Wanted: Colonist Product Associate Working Hours: We work asynchronously and value outcomes over hours Location: Fully Remote Compensation: - Competitive salary paid in USD - Negotiable range based on experience and location About Colonist We're building the biggest digital board game platform on the internet. Last year, our players spent 3,037 years playing 60 million games on our Settlers of Catan alternative. We're a fully remote, asynchronous team spread across multiple continents, focused on crafting extremely polished digital board games that people truly love. About The Role As a Product Associate, you will accelerate growth by driving player activation and retention through data-driven insights and a deep understanding of user behavior. You’ll help scale our platform by organizing research, identifying UX issues, designing and running experiments, and transforming complex inputs into clear, testable product initiatives for a game with over 5 million annual players. What You’ll Do - Research and analyze competitive game modes and premium features to create product matrices and propose experiments - Identify and document UX issues through structured investigation and competitor benchmarking - Create mockups and low-fidelity designs to communicate experiments and UX improvements - Define success metrics, design and sequence experiments, and estimate impact - Oversee experiments end-to-end: prepare specs, coordinate design and development, QA builds, launch, analyze results, and produce actionable reports - Analyze funnel and experiment data to generate actionable insights - Coordinate cross-functionally to execute experiments and maintain quality - Conduct user testing and playtests to validate solutions and gather insights - Break down complex projects into clear, testable steps for async execution - Report results, trade-offs, and recommendations in structured written formats Requirements - AI first-mindset. We see AI fluency as a real multiplier - Exceptional attention to detail and high standards for clarity and execution - Strong written communication for async collaboration; able to write clear specs, experiment docs, and impact reports - Skilled at turning research into structured, actionable outputs (matrices, experiment plans, reports) - Experience designing and running experiments, defining success metrics, and conducting post-mortems - Able to identify UX issues and collaborate with designers to iterate and validate solutions through testing - Proficient in data analysis, interpretation, and presenting findings - Strong product intuition, familiar with mobile UX constraints and product lifecycle Nice to Have - SQL proficiency - Ability to read code for deeper collaboration with devs - Forum/community moderation or support experience Our Values at Colonist Dependability We’re self-driven players who deliver without supervision. When we commit, we deliver. Ownership We take full responsibility and go beyond our roles to improve Colonist. Clear Communication In a remote environment, written clarity matters. We are direct, structured, and keep each other informed. Efficient Execution We move fast and focus on impact. Practical solutions that ship are preferred over perfect solutions that don’t. Continuous Learning We’re curious problem solvers who seek feedback, iterate often, and change our minds when shown better evidence. Why Colonist - Your work ships to 3,6M+ yearly active players - Async culture; deep work, no performative meetings - Unlimited vacation, yearly team offsite, full work equipment - Budget to experiment with any AI tool you want - Access to all company metrics and internal discussions
